Pump Tubing

Fountains make great focal points in the yard, and soft sounds can complement the mood of any garden. Most fountains are easy to install the minimum sweat by the average homeowner. You will need the following equipment:

1. Fountain with tubing installed
2. Power Source around (or in the sun for a solar pump)
3. Submersible pump with long cord sufficient
4. Sturdy tank (plastic resistant major works)
5. Concrete blocks to use as a support pedestal for your fountain
6. Matrix plastic covering
7. Plastic mesh to prevent debris
8. Decorative stone
9. Shovel (to dig your hole), cover and / or wheelbarrow (for the transport of dust)
10. A level

Step One: Dig a hole deep enough and wide enough to accommodate your tank and place the tank into the hole and level it.

Step Two: Place concrete blocks in the tank so that they are a support pedestal for your fountain. Be sure to use blocks of appropriate size so that the fountain will sit as you want.

Step Three: Cut a hole in the plastic large enough to accommodate pump the grid. This way you'll have easy access for future maintenance of the pump.

Fourth stage: The most fountains are supplied complete with the tube that connects to the pump. If yours does not, you will need to install and seal. Allow the tube to extend through the base the fountain and be at the bottom of the tank.

Step Five: Cut a slit in your plastic netting so that the tubing can easily slip through. Place the grate on top of the tank and concrete blocks. Place the plastic netting on top of that, and finally place the fountain on the pedestal with the tube inserted through the mesh and all the way to the bottom of the tank.

Step Six: Set the pump on the plastic tube and place the pump in the bottom of the tank.

Step Seven: Fill the tank with water taking care always to your pump is completely submerged; operate the pump without enough water will cause the engine grill.

Step Eight: Test your fountain by plugging it in. If you are happy that it works properly, cover the mesh on top of the tank with decor (stone or any other message you like as long as it does not fall into the reservoir through potentially clogging the pump). Enjoy!
