Vacuum pumps are used to pump the gas out of an area, leaving a partial vacuum. The vacuum pump was invented by German named Otto von Guericke.

The flow of exhaust air, the amount of empty product, and the power that is required to produce the vacuum are main factors involved in the choice of vacuum pumps particular. It is mandatory for manufacturers to provide information on the flow-availability of staff. Standard measures are in place to quantify the extent to which a vacuum pump product. This is called mmHg or HG. A vacuum pump provides less broadband and provides a vacuum higher than the low speed.

The vacuum pumps have much lower power requirements of air compressors. Great size vacuum pumps are designed for continuous pumping. However, smaller pumps have a high yield; specific requirements.

Different types of vacuum pumps are available such as the diaphragm, rocking piston, reciprocating piston, liquid ring, rotary screw, vane and lobed rotor ones. Reciprocating piston, diaphragm, rocking piston and vane pumps can move up to twenty-nine mercury. Rubber and plastic Piston pumps sealed vacuum pump of risk, and scroll pumps are also used.

Many industrial processes and scientific require vacuum pump for applications such as production of electric lamps, vacuum tubes, processes semiconductor lectron microscopy, medical and participatory processes involving the sucking. Aerospace applications include use of the vacuum source to power gyroscopes in the instruments of different flight.

In the case of a complete electrical failure, special instruments in the instrument panel powered by a vacuum source are used.
