How to draw a broken fan Re: Kirby Classic III vacuum?

Just to remove the fan, I can put everything away. Thank you for help. (1) Is it acceptable to use a long nose visegrip on the switch shaft to prevent rotation? (2) The holding of a broken fan with my right hand, is it a turn clockwise or counterclockwise to disengage?

Kirby on the shaft is threaded to the left, turn back and it stands.
